What is E-waste?

E-waste, or electronic waste refers to discarded electronic devices and equipment, including computers, smartphones, televisions, and other appliances as well as cables, battery cells, switches and other such materials which induces current in it.As technology rapidly evolves, these items become obsolete, leading to significant environmental and health concerns. Improper or iresponsible disposal can result in hazardous materials, such as lead, mercury, and cadmium, leaching into soil and water. E-waste recycling is crucial for recovering valuable materials and reducing pollution. Responsible management involves donating, recycling, or properly disposing of electronic / electrical devices to minimize their impact on the environment and promote sustainability.

What are the benefits of E-waste recycling?

Recycling of e-waste is the most environment friendly way to dispose the electronics / electrical devices which avails the benefits such as....
1. Resource Recovery: Extracts valuable metals and materials, reducing the need for new resource extraction.

2. Environmental Protection: Reduces pollution and environmental hazards associated with improper disposal, such as toxic substances leaching into soil and water.

3. Energy Conservation: Recycling often uses less energy compared to producing new materials, leading to lower carbon emissions.

4. Economic Opportunities: Creates jobs in the recycling and manufacturing sectors while promoting sustainable business practices.

5. Waste Reduction: Helps divert waste from landfills, prolonging their lifespan and minimizing land degradation.

6. Consumer Safety: Reduces risks associated with improper disposal of hazardous materials, protecting public health.

By recycling e-waste, we can foster a more sustainable future.

What we do with eWaste?

We have framed an extensive e-Waste disposal process from begining to end that will ensure the collection, transportation and recycling of e-waste in order to fulfill our vision and mission to improve the environment.
We have established a collection centres across the vadodara to gather the e-waste. Our associate authorised recycling agency have deployed their own vehicle for the transportation of the collected e-wastes.
We firmly believe that by reusing, reducing and recycling, the three R's of sustainability, we can achieve our objective of responsible disposal of e-waste and building a greener environment around us.

From Chairman's Desk

12.png
India is the 3rd largest e-waste producing country with more than 5 million tonnes of e-waste in a year.      Forming a big gap, india's recycling rate is just 3% which is very less compared to other developed countries like USA & Japan.
This negligible recycling rate result from a paucity of a proper recycling facilities and ground level awareness. Most of the e-waste is recycled by the unconventional practices.
The factual data is alarming and requires responsible attention. Formalising unconventional practices, increasing awareness and creating eco friendly e-waste disposal structure is need of the time.
Identifying a specific need for the vadodara city, we ideated to develop such platform that would play a vital role in ensuring sustainable eco system by eradicating the unwilled existence of e-waste - a modern evil.
To avoid pollution, we only talk about the issues but practical solution is never given.
Being a responsible social influencer we believe in solution and aimed to generate awareness right from the root level. Which will help the society to understand the importance of responsible dump of e-waste and about the feasible solution of it.
With this vision and mission, Lions Club of Baroda Central New Century in association with VYO ( vallabh youth organization ) took this initiative to educate the society and to provide a platform for 365 days of the year to avoid irresponsible dump of e-waste.
According to me, e-waste is truly an evil of the modern age and we should overcome from this by adopting responsible dump and conventional recycling practices.

Chairman, Nirmulan
